Where Credit’s Due: Finding the Money – Film Screening and Q&A
This free public screening of the documentary Finding the Money, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with the directory with Maren Poitras and other special guests, was part of Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL)’s Global Donut Days 2025, a four-day, community-led festival, held online and in-person around the world.
Finding the Money is the story of an intrepid group of economists on a mission to flip our understanding of money upside down. How could reimagining money transform our town? Does Middlesbrough and do the people of Teesside deserve more credit? Can a different economic theory revolutionise our ability to tackle the climate crisis?

A Curious Night at the Museum: Making/Queering Money Mini-Workshop
We ran an interactive workshop as part of A Curious Night at the Museum, Curious Arts‘ one-night-only takeover of the Dorman Museum in celebration of Teesside’s LGBTQIA+ culture!
Did you know that money is queer? Our workshop challenged the standard (or ‘straight’) story of money by creating ‘Curious Credits’ in celebration of contributions and contributors to the community that too often go unrecognised.
Workshop 1: Where Credit’s Due. Saturday 17 Janurary 2026, 10.30am-12.30pm, The Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough
This workshop explored the possibilities that reimagining public credit creation might open up in Middlesbrough. Does Middlesbrough need more credit? Do the people of Middlesbrough need more credit? And do marginalised communities and environmental projects in Middlesbrough need credit most of all?
Workshop 2: The Other Saltburn. Saturday 7 March 2026, 10.30am-12.30pm, The Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough
This workshop considered the 2023 film Saltburn, which, for its title alone, resonates in a particular way on Teesside. We drew connections between the film’s layers of meaning and the complex ways in which monetary tokens communicate and express public value and we expermented with designs for our own ‘Dorman Dollars’.

Workshop: Everyone’s Included! Day/Time TBC, The Dorman Museum, Middlesbrough
This workshop will contrast orthodox (or ‘straight’) ways of understanding money with more inclusive perspectives on public credit and its potential to advance ecosocial justice. We will also consider how monetary experimentation has been central to the way some novelists have imagined futures in which social inclusion goes hand in hand with action to avert climate catastrophe.
